Being the wife of a cop, I am excited about this film. The topic: fatherhood. The characters: cops.
This is such a timely film. When Dads are portrayed as idiots, bumbleheads, and like they can't do anything right or contribute anything worthwhile to a family in most media sources, this seems to be one that will edify fathers and fatherhood, Biblical fatherhood.
On top of that, it deals with family life with a cop. This is huge. Many, many cops have a hard time turning off the job when they come home. So they either check out totally due to what they saw or dealt with that day, or become mean, angry, and sometimes abusive because of the control issues that go undealt with.
My own husband had an issue with checking out. Most men don't see the types of things cops see on a weekly basis, so they have an easier time. But even men that sit behind a desk often come home and veg in front of TV (are you ready for some football?????) or the computer all evening long. So it's not hard to imagine a cop might do that a lot with what they have to deal with. This was, praise God, something my husband realized was a problem and quickly dealt with it. But many men don't. I hope this movie will address this very real issue in fatherhood.

Cute Gift Idea
I found this little idea on Just A Girl's blog (BTW, you NEED to mark it as a favorite, she is so creative and has creative friends). You could do this for anything, Christmas, Easter, New Years, Baby, colors of a bathroom/kitchen, and so on. You don't even have to be very creative (which is good for me) as scrapbook supplies are all easy to coordinate.

Catching Up
That's what today is, catch up day. We went to my Uncle and Aunt's home this weekend. It was so much fun, but so stressful (two special needs children, the youngest of which is very happy to be there but out of his element so he melts down a lot, feeding issues, intense constipation in Baby Boy on Friday, busy house, and just life in general).
The boys had so much fun Saturday evening. Baby boy walked the entire way, determined to do it on his own, and literally collapsed in Daddy's arms at the last house. He slept GOOOOD Saturday night.
We are still trying to figure out his tummy issues. I know we are on the right track, just trying to find that missing piece of the puzzle. One day, one day!
Big Boy is doing well. He had a good OT session today. He's melting down a lot, but I think he's just worn out from the weekend.
I have some interesting information to post. Will do it in the morning, most likely.

Vaccine Funny
OK, OK, I do have a sense of humor when it comes to vaccines, really I do. Here's proof, this one made me laugh my socks off.

H1N1 Vaccine Information
(click on the picture to go to the FDA's PDF on the vaccine)
If you have had H1N1, you don't need the vaccine.
From the manufacturer:
- If you are pregnant, it's not known if it will harm the baby.
- If you are nursing, it's not known if this gets into the breast milk.
- If you are under 10, you will need two (2) vaccines, not just one.
- If you are under 6 months old, you can't have it.
- This was only tested on 31 children, ages 6 months to 26 months.
- The single doses have no mercury (though they do have some formaldehyde), but the multi-dose vials do have mercury in them. Check to see which one you are getting.
- It was not studied to determine if it has any impairment on fertility.
- It was studied on 121 adults (106 causcasians, 11 blacks, 2 asians, 2 other - no gender or age given).
- In the children's study (6mos - 26mos) the breakdown was 23 caucasian, 3 blacks, 2 hispanics, 3 others - 16 girls, 15 boys.
- This is a deactivated virus vaccine.
- If you are on immunosupressant drugs, it could lower the effectiveness of the vaccine.
- It's really designed for ages 6mos - 59 years old.
- If you have a reaction to eggs or the seasons flu vaccine, you should not have this vaccine.
Please educate yourself fully. Doctors are wonderful. They help in the healing process of so many issues. But they don't know everything. Before you take a vaccine, ask for the patient information insert and look online. Do your homework. The easiest way to do this is, at the next office visit, ask which vaccines are coming up for your child. Ask for the patient inserts for those vaccines (the full insert, both sides), and then do your homework.

Press On
We have been on this journey nearly 21 months. For 21 months God has strengthened me more than I ever imagined possible. When I am using the last of what I have in me, He renews me. I have had so many people say, in the past 21 months, "I don't know how you do it" or "where do you find the strength to keep doing this." I have always answered, "it's all from God, without Him I would have crumbled". Well, Selah has a song that I just heard today that says it better than I ever could. So, sweet friends, no matter what you are going through, press on. In Jesus' name, press on!
Press On
When the valley is deep
When the mountain is steep
When the body is weary
When we stumble and fall
When the choices are hard
When we're battered and scarred
When we've spent our resources
When we've given our all
Chorus:
In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on
