Yuuu-uuumy! Soft Gluten Free Bread

I have finally found it. It's been a long search, but I found a gluten-free bread that actually tastes good, isn't 900 lbs per loaf, and is sooooofffft. I mean, soft like fresh bread should be.
I like Kinnikinnick products. I have yet to be disappointed. When I saw this mix at the store, I figured what did I have to lose? When I read the directions, I really figured I had nothing to lose, not even time. It's literally 3 parts mix to 2 parts milk, water, or milk alternative (we used our infamous almond milk). You mix it with a hand mixer (don't need a big mixer for this dough) for 3 minutes, pop it in a bread pan, or muffin tin if you prefer homemade buns, and bake for 40 minutes (20 for buns). Voila, warm, soft, GFCF bread (or you can use real milk and just have GF bread).
The great thing is, this bread is gluten, soy, dairy, nut, oil, and yeast free! Nothing ever, ever, ever fits totally into baby boy's odd dietary needs. This one fits perfectly. I really was starting to get concerned when I saw how truly easy it was and how perfectly it fit into our needs. I figured it wouldn't taste yummy. Oh my. I am a bread lover and hate GF bread. Not anymore. This one has converted me over! Go get some, don't wait, get it today.

Cute Gift Idea

I found this little idea on Just A Girl's blog (BTW, you NEED to mark it as a favorite, she is so creative and has creative friends). You could do this for anything, Christmas, Easter, New Years, Baby, colors of a bathroom/kitchen, and so on. You don't even have to be very creative (which is good for me) as scrapbook supplies are all easy to coordinate.

Check out what I made for my Aunt. She and my Uncle love Halloween. I thought she needed a little orange and black in her bathroom and kitchen.

Catching Up

That's what today is, catch up day. We went to my Uncle and Aunt's home this weekend. It was so much fun, but so stressful (two special needs children, the youngest of which is very happy to be there but out of his element so he melts down a lot, feeding issues, intense constipation in Baby Boy on Friday, busy house, and just life in general).

The boys had so much fun Saturday evening. Baby boy walked the entire way, determined to do it on his own, and literally collapsed in Daddy's arms at the last house. He slept GOOOOD Saturday night.

We are still trying to figure out his tummy issues. I know we are on the right track, just trying to find that missing piece of the puzzle. One day, one day!

Big Boy is doing well. He had a good OT session today. He's melting down a lot, but I think he's just worn out from the weekend.

I have some interesting information to post. Will do it in the morning, most likely.

Vaccine Funny

OK, OK, I do have a sense of humor when it comes to vaccines, really I do. Here's proof, this one made me laugh my socks off.

H1N1 Vaccine Information

(click on the picture to go to the FDA's PDF on the vaccine)

We do not vaccinate. We had educated ourselves on the facts about vaccines (using the manufacturers websites) and have found they are not the best decision for our family. I want this for all families. No, not foregoing vaccines. I want each parent to be fully educated. Having said that, here are some H1N1 vaccine FACTS (straight from the manufacturer's own patient information insert). And one that the CDC put out there.

If you have had H1N1, you don't need the vaccine.

From the manufacturer:
  1. If you are pregnant, it's not known if it will harm the baby.

  2. If you are nursing, it's not known if this gets into the breast milk.

  3. If you are under 10, you will need two (2) vaccines, not just one.

  4. If you are under 6 months old, you can't have it.

  5. This was only tested on 31 children, ages 6 months to 26 months.

  6. The single doses have no mercury (though they do have some formaldehyde), but the multi-dose vials do have mercury in them. Check to see which one you are getting.

  7. It was not studied to determine if it has any impairment on fertility.

  8. It was studied on 121 adults (106 causcasians, 11 blacks, 2 asians, 2 other - no gender or age given).

  9. In the children's study (6mos - 26mos) the breakdown was 23 caucasian, 3 blacks, 2 hispanics, 3 others - 16 girls, 15 boys.

  10. This is a deactivated virus vaccine.

  11. If you are on immunosupressant drugs, it could lower the effectiveness of the vaccine.

  12. It's really designed for ages 6mos - 59 years old.

  13. If you have a reaction to eggs or the seasons flu vaccine, you should not have this vaccine.

Please educate yourself fully. Doctors are wonderful. They help in the healing process of so many issues. But they don't know everything. Before you take a vaccine, ask for the patient information insert and look online. Do your homework. The easiest way to do this is, at the next office visit, ask which vaccines are coming up for your child. Ask for the patient inserts for those vaccines (the full insert, both sides), and then do your homework.

Press On

We have been on this journey nearly 21 months. For 21 months God has strengthened me more than I ever imagined possible. When I am using the last of what I have in me, He renews me. I have had so many people say, in the past 21 months, "I don't know how you do it" or "where do you find the strength to keep doing this." I have always answered, "it's all from God, without Him I would have crumbled". Well, Selah has a song that I just heard today that says it better than I ever could. So, sweet friends, no matter what you are going through, press on. In Jesus' name, press on!

Press On

When the valley is deep
When the mountain is steep
When the body is weary
When we stumble and fall
When the choices are hard
When we're battered and scarred
When we've spent our resources
When we've given our all

Chorus:
In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on

In Jesus' name, we press on
In Jesus' name, we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
Clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on
To press on

Alex Barton Update

Alex Barton made the honor roll in his private second grade class. I know you are all saying, "why does that name sound familiar". Alex Barton was the 5-year-old in Ms. Portillo's class. Still can't place the name. Ms. Portillo is the "creative" teacher that thought it was a good idea to let the class vote out a little boy with Autism, yes vote him out of the class.

Great link, short but sweet.

Shows Ms. Portillo a thing or two.
